GS1 Canada Learning Series – Barcodes and Beyond 

Learn how your business can leverage a GS1 Canada subscription to access authentic barcodes, data and content standards to ensure you are trade ready for retailers, foodservice, broker-distributors and online marketplaces.  

This 4-part series will introduce you to GS1 global standards, emphasize the importance of unique product identification using GS1 Canada GTINs and barcodes, importing and exporting regulations and GS1 Canada Industry Managed Solutions.

 

September 25 – 11:00am – Series #1 – Introduction to GS1 Canada

In Canada, through our unique community management role, we collaborate with business leaders, sector boards, advisory councils and industry work groups to develop standards, guidelines and non-proprietary business solutions. Partnering with industry, we provide education and implementation support to subscribers of all sizes across multiple sectors. This session will provide an overview of services offered, roles we play across the supply chain along with tips on how to get started the right way.

 

October 2 – 11:00am – Series # 2 – Barcodes/ Product Identification

Barcodes are everywhere – from the food we buy, to the clothes we wear. This session will demystify barcodes by explaining why unique product identification is key when selling your product on a website, through a retailer or an online marketplace. Having an authentic barcode and necessary resources will help you navigate regulatory and trading requirements while ensuring you are in conformity with trading partners.

 

October 9 – 11:00am – Series #3 – Import/ Export – Brokers and Distributors

This session will cover in more detail key areas to consider and relative impacts as they relate to selling your products inter-provincially and internationally. We will dive into business and sector specific regulations, packaging and labelling requirements and the use of Brokers & Distributors. As GS1 barcodes are recognized around the world, it makes it easier for all trading partners in the supply chain to import and export products using GS1 Global Standards.

 

October 16 – 11:00am – Series #4 – Value Prop. – Industry Managed Solutions

ECCnet Industry Managed Solutions are non-proprietary, designed to meet the needs of business stakeholders of all sizes across multiple industries. Each global standards-based solution targets operational efficiencies and resources, utilizing flexible content capture, loading and sharing options and data excellence tools to meet the needs of Canadian industry. This session will explore some of the more common IMS services offered and relative benefits.
