Government Updates

Virtual Roadshow for the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE)

 

Established in 2018 and co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Shanghai Municipal Government, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) is the world’s first import-themed national-level expo. It was designed to promote the Chinese domestic market and boost domestic consumption.

This year’s CIIE is scheduled for November 5-10, 2022, and will be held in Shanghai, China.

 

Join CCBC and session co-hosts CIIE Bureau and Bank of China (Canada) on Thursday, July 7 at 9:00 am EDT to learn how your organization can benefit from the trade fair, either as an exhibitor, buyer or visitor. For more information and to register, click here.

 

EU Ukraine Solidarity Lanes Business Matchmaking Platform

The European Commission on May 12 ​announced the establishment of ‘Solidarity Lanes’ in order to help Ukraine export its agricultural products as soon as possible. One important initiative under the plan was to set up a ‘matchmaking platform’​, where agri-businesses (or any business with relevant expertise or experience) interested in helping can take part and be matched with ​EU, Ukrainian and other businesses with the aim of finding pragmatic solutions to the export of agricultural produce from Ukraine as quickly as possible.​ The platform will be open until May 27, 2023. Please see the following link for more information about the platform, including information on how to register and get involved, should you be interested: https://eu-ua-solidarity-lanes.seu.b2match.io/​ 

Reduced Wait Times at Canadian Airports

 

As of July 1st 2022, all testing, including for unvaccinated travellers, which includes Temporary Foreign Workers, will be performed off-site.

 

Additional details and impacts on Temporary Foreign Workers will be communicated to you as soon as possible.

 

Government of Canada launches new support program for Canada’s wine sector

 

To help strengthen the future of the wine sector, the Government of Canada has worked in consultation with industry stakeholders to develop a program that would help Canadian wineries face emerging challenges in the short term.

All licensed wineries in Canada that produce or contract out the production of bulk wine from primary agricultural products, such as grapes, berries, other fruit, dandelions, rice and sap, will be eligible for support under the program.

Applications for the first year of the Program can be submitted between July 4, 2022 and August 12, 2022. For more information, click here.
